Hey all,
I've been getting very little sleep lately. It's my junior year of high school and I try to take on a rigorous course load (for college) while also playing sports and working on three other side projects simultaneously. I'm ambitious enough to the point where it doesn't bother me to get less sleep, but I want to be as healthy as possible. I'm used to getting about six hours of sleep (more on weekends), but with college applications due in less than a year, everything's picking up at a crazy pace.
This month I've often been getting less than six hours, and last night I got three. If I understand sleep correctly, it's a huge factor in how our body rests, processes information gathered during the day, and builds muscle. If sleep is significant for reaching fitness goals, should I sacrifice my workouts on occasion when I get 3-5 hours?
My main concern is that the workout will be pointless if my body can't recover. I'd also like to note that this is probably temporary, and I only have this super busy schedule until after AP exams in April (I'll also take my ACT by then and have 1-2 of my major extracurricular projects finished). Does anyone have any recommendations or thoughts? Thanks!
