Hi,
I have heard that abs and calves can be worked everyday, and maybe other muscles too. I have also heard that you can do push ups everyday. I am stuck at 4-6 pull-ups and found the training program of the world record holder of pull-ups and he trained everyday. Can I do this? By the way I mean everyday like every training day so like 5 days a week not 7. Thanks!
You can do it but just because the method worked for him, doesn't mean it will work for everyone. And personally, I think it's too much, a muscle group should be worked out maximum 4x week to avoid overtraining which leads to injuries and negatively effects growth of muscles from the lack of rest, as you know your muscles pretty much grow when resting, workouts are just the reason for them to grow (microtears of muscle fibers)
Oh okay. Thanks! So should I train pull-ups four days a week for optimal results? I really want to get 20 strict pull-ups so I can move onto the muscle up!
Yeah 4 times is optimal. If you do full body it's 3 to 4 times depending on the week. The muscle up is not necessarily about the reps of the pull ups but more about the explosiveness of the pull up although it will help a lot if you hit 20 reps
Can anyone recommend a method of getting to 20 pull-ups? Because I have been training for a while and feel that my pull-ups are kind of stuck. Thanks!
Hi Matt, I tried that method of training, I think what you're talking about is the armstrong pull up program, It helped me to improve my endurance and my form, after months of training I realized I wasn't doing the pull ups with strict form (all the way down), now that I'm focusing more on my form and that's really helping me. I only worked the armstrong pull up program for 3 weeks and I didn't notice big changes, I should've worked on it for 1 month or 2 but I went for a vacation with my family (really I needed some rest haha).
I'd recommend you to do a pyramid workout to improve your endurance and strength. For instance:
5 pull ups 2 min rest
4 pull ups 1 min rest
3 pull ups 1 min rest
2 pull ups 30 sec rest
1 pull ups 30 sec rest
Then go back with the pyramid ( 1 pull up 30 sec rest, 2 pull ups 30 sec rest, 3 pull ups....)
Always with perfect form, remember that. Do this pyramid set before your pull routine.
Greetings!
What about Greasing the Groove, does anybody has experience with that, I'am doing it since some days and it feels like a really cool and new way of training. I see this methods everywhere on the internet if you want to get more reps with an exercise. If nobody has experience I'am going to tell you my progress in some weeks. Salute!
