What do you think about intermittent fasting?
I asked Chris once and he said that he doesn't prefer any diets (IF is not really a diet) or stuff like that just eat healthy in general.
In my opinion, it's a good weight loss tool, as Hodge Twins say, it's nothing more but a weight loss tool. I don't know about the science of muscle growth with it, a lot of people say it helps since it helps you get your HGH up and stuff like that.
But in my opinion, if you have fat loss problems or just want some fast fat loss, you can do intermittent fasting, because you will kind of 'restrict' calories by telling your body to eat less in general in that short eating time, so you're already in caloric deficit, but I don't know if it's that much magic as they say fat will melt, but it does help. I was 93 KG when I started back in February but now I'm 85 KG and my muscles are almost all the same, of course they are more defined since I have less fat.
That's all my opinion, it just helps you lose fat, I'm still not sure if it's 'magic' for muscle, but I eat a lot of protein and exercise regularly, and keep doing new levels so my muscles grow pretty fast.
I think that's a good answer.
Gligor, so you do intermittent fasting? In the time window you eat do you eat as much as you would throughout the day just at a specific period? What is your time period like? And do you still eat healthy during that time period?
Yeah I do intermittent fasting so I can lose my fat off, I don't know if I will continue it after I get my body fat percentage to like 10% or something, but I've gotten used to it. To answer your questions:
-Well I started IF by skipping my dinner, since my dinner contained carbs and not a lot of protein or stuff. And instead, I ate more protein (use some of the dinner calories) in my lunch meal. So I kinda eat a bit less in order to lose fat but still I eat more protein calories.
-My time period most times is random. I started with 12 hours and then I was sticking with 14 fasting hours, then I experimented with 16 fasting hours to see if it was for me, but I can't always keep it 16 hours or so because of school. I do 18-20 hours of fasting during weekends.
-Yeah, most of my foods are healthy, I have one bad habit, it's eating sugar every day, but I try my best to keep it extremely low. When I have a workout day, I try to eat even more protein, but I don't have specific foods, I just try to eat as much as I need or want, till I feel full because I know I won't be eating for the next X hours.
So I don't prefer it for muscle growth, because you tend to eat less. But if you have problems with losing fat, like you do cardio but even that doesn't help, then you can definitely use intermittent fasting, but it's still not 'magic' as people say, but maybe I am doing something wrong, maybe I should try 20 hours consistently throughout the week or something. It kills your cravings and hungers even more, so you tend to really eat less. That's my take on it..
wow thanks! great information! I have talked to a food nutritionist and workout specialist about sugar. the best rule she says about sugar is the nutrition says it has under 10 grams of sugar you will be fine. I don't really have much trouble burning fat/ calories. I guess i will just wait to see how Chris's nutrition eating plan is..
Thanks again!
