Hey guys, my name is Reinhard and i have been doing calisthenics for a little more than a year after being inspired by Chris. I have a question about muscle ups. I always get pain in my elbows after doing them. Is this normal? Does anyone else experience this?
My opinion is that you should do more streching and warm-up. If this isn ot the problem try some elastic materials like tennis players are useing for wrist and u should use them for elbows(i dont know the exact name of that things). If u try this, use for both hands ! I hope i was usefull :D
Thanks man, I'll do that
If you feel the pain only with muscle ups, chances are you're lacking wrist flexibility (forearms), so make sure you do stretches and as andrei said you should warm up your elbows probably a bit more. Be careful though, you could worsen the pain and turn it into an injury (Hopefully not of course, but you never know). Have you tried to rest a little, maybe take a week break (at least from muscle ups) and maybe strengthen and increase the flexibility of your forearms, that's what I can think of.
Thanks man, I'll do that
I'd say it's that if you're going from pull up grip to straight bar dip grip (if you know what I mean, your wrist turning around). You could try to put your hands already in the straight bar dip grip so you don't have to use your forearms a lot, which may lessen the pain.
That sounds good, thanks man I'll do that!
