can i still make progression on the excercises while on a deficit? i know you cant build strenght if you dont eat in a surplus i think... so how do i advance on the levels while on a deficit? thanks
You can build strength even if you aren't eating what your supposed to. What you can't build, is the muscle mass that you want. How bad is your deficit? Tell us more about it.
Daniel pretty much said it. Keep your deficit as high as you can (if your BMR or whatever it's called, maintenance level calories is 2000, lower max to like 1600, nothing less, while you may think logically it's better for fat loss, you don't want to destroy your muscle mass as well). I don't know if a sports teacher is to believe, but he said at some times you will build some muscle mass while losing fat, but I doubt it, it's way more important to focus on one thing (cutting on fat, or increasing muscle mass) at once, but yes, you will be able to do more reps (get stronger) first from losing some of the fat, but as well as actual strength!
