99% of the time I do the max required sets and reps but most of the time I take breaks. Can someone please tell me if it's bad to do it or if it doesn't matter. Does slow down muscle progression?

I don't really understand what you mean. When do you take breaks?
In between reps. Example: I have to do 1 set of 10 reps but I am too tired so I do 5 reps and take a break for 30 seconds or less then continue
I think you should do less reps and more sets and then after youre done with reps you take some break and do the next set.
