Heel touches

Hey, when im doing the heel touches I dont feel anything in my side abs/obliques. I feel it in my abs, it feels like Im holding a crunch, not like the side crunch where I can feel my side abs. Does anyone have suggestions on how to make the side abs to work in this exercise? Thanks alot (:

What are you doing? Chris's program or your own(trying to get the side abs burning!) If you're doing Chris's program, stick to it....period.
If you are training yourself and are trying to hit the obliques; then I would suggest side plank, side leg raises, alternating heel touches, side knee raises, and windshield wipers. All these are good exercises for the obliques. Try em out!💪🏼

What works for me is to keep my abs flexed and kind of sucked inwards at all times while doing ab exercises, that way I really start feeling the burn. And I imagine the heel touches like I'm doing a really "weird wide side crunch" just to touch my heels. The obliques in this exercise I think are being worked out in a stranger way, when you touch the heel they shorten and then when you're in the beginning position they lengthen again, so you are working them you just don't feel it, which is fine but also crucial - get the mind to muscle especially for Pull & Core exercises.

Great replies from Gligor and Daniel! It's all about mind to muscle. Focus when you do the exercises - don't just go side to side!
