Hey everyone, im getting crazy every time I see my self doing pull ups, its frustrating me that my pull ups looks nothing like chris's or any other "pros", its like nothing is moving in my back. So if im doing pull ups with full rom and no momentum can I relax and let it go or should I do something?? Thanks for your answers
When I started calisthenics, I did pull-ups(any variation) with momentum. And guess what?? So did Chris! So did everyone! Even on intermediate some people do pull-ups with momentum. Others might just not be that developed on Pull. But the thing is this, try to do correct form as much as you can. After you realize that you can't go further without momentum, don't worry, use some. That's how you progress. You'll get past that in a while, don't worry. Keep it up!
Thanks a lot for the quick answer daniel but I think I didnt explained myself right, what I was trying to say is that whem chris is doing pull ups he is having an arched back that he said was necessary for bulding a wide back. But when I arch my back I cant do pull ups.
So my question is if its wrong to do pull ups with a straight body. (By the way, when im doing pull ups I dont realy feel it in my back, did you experienced the same thing when you were a begginer or am I doing something wrong) sorry for asking so many question.. Lol
Oh ok, well, you might not be able to because you don't have the strength yet; but I'll tell you what you can do. When doing wide pull-ups, do them as explosive as you can and try to get your hip to the bar(even if you have to lean, kind of like you're trying to do a front lever, this will get your elbows to your hips almost), and then go down slowly with your back arched. Also, when doing front straddle raises go up and come down slowly. This exercises will definitely work your back. Good luck!
No, it isn't wrong to do them straight up, straight down; but that's mostly working the biceps only. You won't feel the back that much. Remember, mind to muscle is extremely important as well. Try to flex your lats when doing wide pull-ups as well. And yes, at the start I didn't feel my back being worked out, but I didn't really even care anyway, lol.
