Does anyone know what gymnasts do to train legs? I know they do mostly body weight excessive for upper body, so I would assume they would use mostly body weight excercises for lower body. However, many people who do calisthenics and use body weight to train legs seem to be lacking in leg strength. Some people say even if you do calisthenics for upper body, you should use weights for lower body to really build strength. I'm wondering if there is a way gymnasts build leg strength without weights? I once heard that some do "weighted mobility" excersices, but I'm not sure what that encompasses. Thanks!
I agree it's best to use weights for legs later. Pistol squats get boring after you can do 20+ in a row + it becomes stamina training instead of strength training. Weighted squats is what I do.
Actually an interesting question about gymnasts. I know they want to be as light and compact as possible so obviously they don't want mass on their legs, especially because they don't really use their legs for much do they? Of course it depends on what type of gymnastics you do. But rings, handstands etc you don't need strong legs. Hip flexors are ofc important but those are worked on whole other occasions.
Looking forward to hear what others has to say
I definitely agree with Chris on this one.💪🏼
