Hi guys,
I would like to ask you, that which is the better way for losing fat or gaining muscle: do intermittent fasting and workout everyday, /or eating normally, workout everyday and every morning go for a run?
If you're doing that you're setting yourself for a failure because you need rest days and not workouts every day. Even if you're doing splits, you should have one rest day a week. You don't have to go every morning for a run. Don't get me wrong, it's great to workout, but to grow muscles + lose fat rest & nutrition is way more important than the workout itself if that makes sense. Here we do full body workouts every second day and depending on the goals we do cardio on the rest days.
Example:
Monday - Full body workout
Tuesday - Cardio / Rest day
Wednesday - Full body workout
Thursday - Cardio / Rest day
Friday - Full body workout
Saturday - Cardio / Rest day
Sunday - Full body workout
repeat.
As far for nutrition/diet, in the long term it doesn't matter if you're doing intermittent fasting or eating 'normally', both have their benefits but in the long term there's not much difference.. Intermittent fasting is better for losing fat while keeping muscle (of course potentially gaining some), eating more meals throughout the day is better for muscle building because it's easier to get in calories. That's my opinion.
intermittent fasting is just an eating method... it got some health benefits but it wont do a muscle building/ fat loss difference... just check your calories.
when talking about gaining muscle... just train hard and let your muscles recover. I would just follow the program and focus more on nutrition. On rest days you dont need a lot of cardio.. walking for 45-60 minutes on rest days is all you need
Intermittent fasting does do a little bit of a fat loss difference but like you said it's just an eating method (that makes you eat less since you won't be able to eat after your eating period if you're hungry, that requires a strong character of a person) and if you don't eat in a calorie deficit you simply won't lose fat, that's true.
About gaining muscle that's also true, but if you want to lean bulk or gain muscle without fat then you will have to do some kind of bit more intense cardio than that (for less time of course).
Hey Nobert,
did you inform yourself about intermediate fasting? :-) Because you should know that it is not possible to do it when you train every day :-) I just read briefly about intermediate fasting and i understood this way:
Of course you have your fasting periods, but during the feeding window your nutrition changes wheter it is your training or your REST DAY (!!). On training days carbs are more important than fat, on rest days it is the other way round. in general you should focus on a high protein intake.
Like gligor said, no progress without rest days. you destroy your body during your workouts, your body needs time to adapt! if you workout before your body has enough energy your anabolic process might turn into a canabolic
Thank you,guys! : )
